Full details

This is an open continuous announcement under which several vacancies may be filled at any of the listed locations, with applications reviewed as positions become available. The role is a direct hire opening for a Nurse Anesthetist at the advanced practice nurse level.

The anesthetist would provide anesthesia across a wide range of procedures, including pediatric surgery, ear, nose and throat, obstetrics and gynecology, orthopedics, oral and maxillofacial surgery, and gastrointestinal procedures. Duties include delivering anesthetic agents by inhalation, regional, intravenous, local, or topical routes, selecting the agent and method of delivery, and tracking patients' fluid loss. The position also involves supervising and monitoring the quality of care given by student nurse anesthetists and helping carry out the Anesthesia Performance Improvement Program.

Applicants must be U.S. citizens and hold a graduate or higher degree from a nurse anesthesia program accredited by an recognized body, with transcripts attached to the application. Graduates of foreign nursing schools must have completed the CGFNS Certification Program and provide the certificate. A current, active, full, and unrestricted professional nursing license is required in a U.S. state, the District of Columbia, Puerto Rico, or a U.S. territory, along with passage of the National Council Licensure Examination, and a nurse anesthetist license or registration in that specialty is also needed.

Candidates need at least one full year of professional nursing experience that covers administering anesthetics, monitoring anesthetized patients, and providing post-operative care, and this experience must be used to meet the requirement, since education cannot substitute for it. Paid and unpaid experience, including volunteer work, counts toward qualification.

The position carries a one-year probationary period and may be permanent, term, part-time, intermittent, or temporary. Direct deposit of pay is required, and male applicants born after December 31, 1959 must complete a Selective Service pre-employment statement. Salary includes locality pay or a Local Market Supplement, and recruitment or relocation incentives may be authorized for highly qualified candidates. Permanent change of station costs are not authorized.

The work is assigned on an intermittent, as-needed basis with no guaranteed weekly hours, and the role will not convert to full-time. Intermittent employees are not eligible for health and life insurance or annual and sick leave. Temporary appointments are time limited and may be extended in one-year increments up to three years, while term appointments may extend to a maximum of eight years.
