Full details

A short-term locum assignment is open for a Certified Registered Nurse Anesthetist in Eureka, California. The contract runs three weeks and calls for at least one year of hands-on experience.

The anesthetist would prepare and give anesthesia, monitor patients before, during and after surgery, take part in diagnostic and treatment procedures, and provide trauma stabilization and critical care. The role also covers acute and chronic pain management, keeping up with new anesthesia techniques, equipment and drugs, and maintaining thorough, accurate patient records. The posted shift is a five-day schedule of eight-hour days, from 07:00 to 16:00.

Candidates need a current, unrestricted RN license in the state where the work is performed, and a license with no flags or open investigations. A Bachelor of Science in Nursing is required, along with a graduate nurse anesthesia credential from an accredited program, noting that a doctorate is required starting in 2025. Certification from the National Board of Certification and Recertification for Nurse Anesthetists is also needed, along with continuing education to keep that certification and the licenses active. Prior work as a CRNA or in an anesthesia setting is preferred, at one to two years.

Skills sought include strong technical anesthesia practice, sound judgment under pressure, clear communication with the surgical team, and attention to detail as patient conditions shift. The listing notes that the recruiting agency provides access to a range of hospital and health system settings, travel and lodging coverage, malpractice coverage with risk management support, and in-house credentialing and licensing help.
