A hospital-employed anesthesia group in Southern Ohio is growing and is seeking several CRNAs to join its team. The guaranteed annual salary is between $179,000 and $195,000 for a two-year contract, with a 5% reduction for providers who are not yet board certified; that salary is adjusted once board certification is obtained.

Contract benefits include 29 paid time off days, made up of four weeks of vacation plus holidays and sick days, along with five PTO days for CME, books and journals and up to $5,000 for those purposes. A 457(b) deferred compensation plan is available without a match, and a 403(b) retirement plan allows pre-tax deferrals at the IRS limit of $18,000, or $24,000 for those over 50, with the medical center matching dollar for dollar up to 2% of base pay. A $10,000 moving payment goes directly to the moving company, and the provider pays a small health insurance premium that is deducted from the paycheck.

Malpractice coverage is claims-made, at $1,000,000 per claim and $3,000,000 aggregate. The contract includes a 70-mile and two-year non-compete, or liquidated damages equal to one year's salary. Bonus incentives can reach up to 30% of salary, and a sign-on bonus of 15% of base salary, capped at $50,000, is paid at contract signing and forgiven over two years. Cases cover general anesthesia (excluding cardiac cases), OB/maternity, ENT, ophthalmology and orthopedics. Office hours run Monday through Friday from 7:00 a.m. to 3:00 p.m., with cases starting at 7:30 a.m. Call is possibly one day per week, and weekend call occurs one in six. The average caseload is about five per day, varying by room: roughly 6 to 8 in ENT, 10 to 12 in ophthalmology, and 2 to 3 in orthopedics.
