Full details

A hospital-employed anesthesia group in Southern Ohio is seeking a CRNA to join its team of 14 CRNAs and 6 anesthesiologists. The CRNAs practice under medical direction while retaining independence in managing their own cases.

The offered base salary is listed as potentially $195,000, guaranteed for two years. Providers who are not yet board certified would receive a base 5% lower, with pay adjusted once certification is obtained. The two-year contract also includes 4 weeks of vacation plus holidays and sick days, totaling 29 PTO days, along with 5 PTO days for CME and books and journals, and up to $5,000 for those purposes.

Retirement options include a 457(b) deferred compensation plan and a 403(b) savings plan, each allowing pre-tax deferrals up to the IRS limit of $18,000 per year, with the 403(b) permitting $24,000 for those over 50. The 457(b) carries no employer match, while the medical center matches the 403(b) contribution up to a set share of base pay. A $10,000 moving payment is made directly to a moving company. Malpractice coverage is a claims-made policy with limits of $1,000,000 per claim and $3,000,000 aggregate. The employer pays a small health insurance premium, with the employee's portion deducted from pay.

The contract includes a 70-mile and two-year non-compete, or liquidated damages equal to one year's salary. Call pay is handled through a CERP program, which the CFO explains. Bonus incentives can reach up to 30% of salary. A sign-on bonus of 15% of base salary, capped at $50,000, is paid at contract signing and forgiven over two years.

The case mix is general anesthesia across ENT, ophthalmology, orthopedics, and OB/maternity, with no cardiac cases. Standard hours are Monday through Friday, 7:00 a.m. to 3:00 p.m., with cases starting at 7:30 a.m. Call is possibly one day per week, with weekend call on a 1-in-6 rotation. The average caseload is 3 to 5 cases per day, depending on the rooms in use.
