The posted shift lengths are 8-hour and 10-hour shifts, with five 8-hour shifts preferred and four 10-hour shifts considered, since the site does not accept three 12-hour shifts. All providers start at 7 a.m., and there are no exceptions to that start time.

A completion bonus is offered for reaching 520 hours worked within 17 weeks. The caseload spans general surgery, gynecology, bariatric, spine, obstetrics, and orthopedics with blocks, plus a smaller number of neuro, head, and pediatric cases. When supervising, the ratio is one provider to three. Overtime is not part of the role, and call is not listed as a requirement.

Charting is done on paper, except for pre- and post-operative orders, which are entered in the computer. Emergency privileging is completed within 30 days.

Candidates must hold a current registered professional nursing license and follow the state rules that govern advanced nursing practice. They must have graduated from a nurse anesthesia program accredited by the COA or its predecessor. Certification requirements can be met in one of three ways: awaiting initial certification after meeting the other criteria, holding current certification from the AANA Council on Certification of Nurse Anesthetists or its predecessor, or holding current recertification from the AANA Council on Recertification of Nurse Anesthetists.
