Full details
The position is a CRNA role with an independent anesthesia group of six providers, working from a facility with four large surgical suites. Providers take call from home, and the call structure requires two anesthesia providers on call at a 1:3 ratio. First call is typically blocked in weeks on followed by a post-call week off, while second call carries additional pay and may be traded within the group. The group reports 17 weeks off annually, including post-call time off and vacation.
The case mix is largely routine anesthesia, with no cardiac, neuro, or vascular cases. The service handles about 2,500 cases and 325 deliveries each year, and includes epidural service, U.S. blocks, and occasional line placement. The scheduled weekly hours are listed as 40, and the shift is listed as varying.
Duties include giving anesthesia or sedation for a range of surgical and non-surgical procedures, building and documenting pre-anesthetic plans, and writing orders before, during, and after procedures. The CRNA works alongside the other providers caring for each patient, communicates with patients, families, and the wider care team, orders and reviews diagnostic tests as needed, and monitors patients, including hemodynamically, adjusting the anesthetic plan as conditions change.
A Bachelor of Science degree from an accredited nurse anesthesia program is required, and a master's, DNP, or PhD is preferred. Candidates need an unencumbered license to practice as a CRNA in the state of practice, or multi-state privileges where the role requires them, plus NBCRNA certification that is maintained. Advanced Cardiac Life Support certification is preferred, and department-specific competencies must be obtained and kept current. Privileging and credentialing documents take precedence over the job description regarding minimum qualifications and scope of practice.
