Full details
This PRN position for a Certified Registered Nurse Anesthetist is based at Vantage Eye Center in Salinas, California, a practice with a long reputation for eye care on the Central Coast. The center's ophthalmologists are known for advanced medical and surgical eye treatment, and its nationally recognized specialists cover cataract surgery, vision correction, cornea, retina, glaucoma and oculoplastics.
The CRNA works Monday through Friday from 7:30am to 3:30pm on an as-needed basis, and no call coverage is required. Professional liability coverage is provided through LifeLinc Anesthesia, a national anesthesia management group founded in 2003 that emphasizes clinical quality, provider growth and long-term employment.
Clinical work centers on conscious sedation and MAC anesthesia for outpatient and inpatient cases. Duties include pre-anesthetic assessment, ordering medications and fluids, obtaining informed consent, airway management, overseeing emergence and recovery, discharging patients from the post-anesthesia area, follow-up care for anesthesia complications, and emergency response using advanced or basic life support.
The role also carries administrative responsibilities, including helping set standards for continuity of care and case management, leading quality initiatives, and working with hospital medical staff and administration to deliver effective anesthetic care. The CRNA must stay current with American Association of Nurse Anesthetists rules and comply with local, state and federal regulations.
Benefits are offered to employees working 30 or more hours weekly, but this position is not benefit eligible. Candidates need graduation from an approved nursing school and from an AANA-accredited nurse anesthesia program, certification through the AANA Council on Certification, at least two years of independent practice, and ACLS, BLS and PALS certifications. Strong English reading and writing, basic computer skills, and strict adherence to HIPAA privacy practices are also expected.
