Full details
The CRNA will provide anesthesia and anesthesia-related care across the perioperative period, covering pre-anesthetic preparation and evaluation, induction, maintenance and emergence, post-anesthesia care, and peri-anesthetic clinical support. This role works collaboratively under the supervising anesthesiologist and under the general direction of the OR Manager, the Director of Surgical Services, and the Vice President of Patient Care Services. This is a PRN position at Saint Francis, a Catholic healthcare system in Missouri.
Qualifications include graduation from a nurse anesthesia program accredited by the Council on Accreditation of Nurse Anesthetists and a current Missouri CRNA license. Candidates must hold BLS, ACLS, and PALS certifications, all of which must be maintained, and the role requires an annual physical and annual ORCCs education hours. The posting lists no required prior experience, though applicants must show clinical competency and strong written and verbal communication skills.
Core duties include reviewing the anesthesiologist's plan of care, the patient's health status, medical history, and pertinent labs before any anesthetic, and administering anesthetics, adjuvants, and fluids to maintain physiologic homeostasis. The CRNA manages the airway and pulmonary status, responds to emergencies with airway management and cardiac life support, and provides regional anesthesia including labor epidurals. Responsibilities also include checking and troubleshooting anesthesia equipment, confirming a Time Out with the OR team, documenting care and charges accurately, and handing off patient data to circulators and PACU staff.
The role carries occupational exposure to blood and bodily fluids, and the posting describes frequent standing, walking, reaching, and lifting of 26 to 50 pounds on an occasional basis. Work is mostly indoors in an environment with frequent loud noise and confined spaces, and it involves regular use of patient testing and transport equipment and computers.
