This is a hospital-employed CRNA position at MercyOne North Iowa in Mason City, Iowa, a regional referral teaching hospital within a faith-based, not-for-profit health system. The anesthesia group includes five CRNAs and four anesthesiologists, and the practice welcomes new graduates, with mentorship from experienced CRNAs and anesthesiologists. Physicians are available for support before, during and after each procedure, and there is an opportunity to teach student registered nurse anesthetists.

Under limited supervision, the CRNA provides clinical care under the direction of the department Medical Director, anesthesiologists, surgeons and other attending physicians, and must keep credentials and clinical skills current. The CRNA handles all case types except transplants, including general surgery, orthopedics, spine, obstetrics, bariatrics, GI and cardiac cases, and performs regional anesthesia as well as general anesthesia and monitored anesthesia care within a team approach. Call is a 1:8 rotation with one holiday per year, at-home call, and a day off after post-call.

Compensation includes a base salary of $286,700, a $90,000 recruitment bonus package, a $3,000 CME allowance, and extra pay for extra work. The employer covers malpractice and tail insurance, and benefits include health, dental, life, legal and vision coverage, short- and long-term disability, and two retirement plans. Offers are contingent on references, a background check, a pre-employment physical and a drug screen.

Mason City is the largest urban center in north Iowa, with a population of about 30,000, and sits two hours from Minneapolis and Des Moines. The community offers public and parochial schools, a community college, a nature center, an ice arena, a performing arts theater, a regional orchestra, golf, bike trails and access to Clear Lake about eight miles away. Living costs are reported as 24% below the national average, and a municipal airport offers daily direct flights to Chicago.
