Working under the medical direction of an anesthesiologist, the CRNA develops anesthesia plans, administers anesthesia, and monitors each patient's physiological condition, taking corrective action as needed or as the physician directs. The role also includes pre- and post-operative evaluations on assigned cases, with documentation in patient charts and required records. The position is full time and supports the mission, vision, and values of MercyOne.

The position sits within MercyOne Waterloo Anesthesiology Care, a practice of 11 anesthesiologists and 2 CRNAs, and the CRNA works at both Waterloo Medical Center and Cedar Falls Medical Center. Call is limited to no more than one night per week. New graduates are encouraged to apply.

Compensation includes a $286,000 salary guarantee, a $50K commencement bonus, and a $15K relocation allowance. The employer covers malpractice and tail coverage, and provides employer-paid short-term disability with an option to buy long-term disability at minimal cost. A $2,000 per year CME and license allowance is included.

Benefits include health insurance with a shared premium across three plan options, two dental and two vision plans with shared premiums, and a 403(b) retirement program with an employer match. Paid time off starts at 26 days per year and rises with years of service. As a non-profit organization, the employer qualifies for Public Service Loan Forgiveness.

Candidates should be graduates of an approved CRNA program and hold certification from the National Board of Certification for Nurse Anesthetists. They also need federal and state controlled substance prescribing authority, BLS certification, and mandatory reporter status. Employment is contingent on a drug screen.
