Full details

The position is a full-time independent practice role at St. Joseph's Medical Center in Stockton, California, within a clinician-led, physician-owned anesthesia group that serves local, regional, and national markets. The group emphasizes professional growth, mentoring, wellness resources, and balance between work and personal life, and it describes its academic medical center as highly rated with a collegial culture.

Base pay is tiered by experience: $385,611.20 for five years or more, $360,609.60 for two to five years, and $350,604.80 for zero to two years. A commencement bonus of $40,000 is offered for a two-year commitment, or $60,000 for a three-year commitment. Benefits include seven weeks of paid time off, a $3,000 yearly continuing education allowance, health, dental, vision, life, and disability coverage, a 401(k), flexible spending accounts, and malpractice insurance provided by the group. Relocation help is available for out-of-state or out-of-area hires, with the amount capped as stated in the posting and receipts required.

The hospital has 355 beds and an eight-room main operating room along with a cath lab and endoscopy suite. Anesthesia volume is about 14,300 cases a year, roughly 9,000 surgical, 800 cardiac, and 2,000 procedures outside the OR, plus around 3,000 births annually. Coverage spans general, colorectal, orthopedic, spine, thoracic, cardiac, vascular, obstetric, gynecologic, plastic, ENT, and podiatric surgery, across as many as 19 locations a day.

Shifts run eight or twelve hours with flexible scheduling and optional call, and in-house shifts are followed by post-call time off. CRNAs have full autonomy in scope, including regional anesthesia and arterial and central line placement. They work alongside 14 physicians, more than 30 independently practicing CRNAs, and an anesthesiology residency program, and the group also covers a surgery center.

The group is looking for full-time and part-time CRNAs, including experienced clinicians and new graduates, who want independent practice in a supportive, academic setting. The hospital is the largest in San Joaquin County, has an anesthesia residency launched in 2021 with subspecialty tracks in cardiac, obstetric, critical care, acute and chronic pain, and pediatrics, and is building a replacement facility over the next two to three years. It holds several Healthgrades and U.S. News recognitions for safety and quality. Stockton sits about 50 minutes from Sacramento and 90 minutes from San Francisco, near Yosemite, and a few hours from Lake Tahoe.
