A locum tenens opening for a Certified Registered Nurse Anesthetist is available in Poughkeepsie, New York. The assignment is a 13-week contract that calls for at least one year of experience, with a preference for one to two years of work as a CRNA or in an anesthesia setting.

The role centers on preparing and giving anesthesia and caring for patients before, during and after surgery. The CRNA also takes part in diagnostic and therapeutic procedures, stabilizes trauma patients, provides critical care, and manages acute and chronic pain. Staying up to date on new anesthesia techniques, equipment and drugs is expected, along with keeping complete and accurate patient records.

The scheduled shift runs five 8-hour days, from 07:00 to 15:30. Candidates need a BSN, a master's or doctoral degree in nurse anesthesia from an accredited program, and certification from the NBCRNA, with continuing education required to maintain that certification and their medical licenses. A current, unrestricted RN license in the state of employment is required, and licenses that are flagged or under investigation are not acceptable.
