Full details
This is an open continuous announcement for an advanced practice nurse anesthetist, with multiple vacancies that may be filled at any of the listed locations. Applications are accepted on an ongoing basis, and qualified candidates will be considered as openings arise. The hiring process is a direct hire solicitation.
The nurse anesthetist would deliver the full spectrum of anesthesia care, selecting the method best suited to each patient's procedure. The role involves reviewing abnormal test results and shifting clinical signs, then adjusting the anesthetic plan in response. The position also serves as an anesthesia consultant to a broad range of medical, surgical, and nursing services, sharing current advances in the field. Additionally, the nurse helps develop and assess clinical care standards and treatment programs to confirm they meet patient needs.
Eligibility is limited to US citizens. Applicants need a graduate or higher degree from a nurse anesthesia program accredited by one of the recognized bodies, with transcripts attached. Graduates of foreign nursing schools must hold a CGFNS certificate. A current, active, unrestricted professional nursing license in the United States is required, along with passing the National Council Licensure Examination. Candidates must also have at least one full year of professional nursing experience involving anesthetic administration, patient monitoring during anesthesia, and medical history intake, and education cannot substitute for that experience.
Selected candidates serve a one-year probationary period, and direct deposit of pay is mandatory. Male applicants born after December 31, 1959 must complete a Selective Service pre-employment statement, and proof of citizenship is required. Salary may be negotiable for new federal employees, and recruitment or relocation incentives may be offered to highly qualified candidates. Relocation expenses for a permanent change of station are not authorized. The role requires wearing a uniform or protective clothing and is designated mission essential, so the incumbent may need to work during emergencies, disasters, or severe weather.
