Full details

This full-time, day-shift role is for a Certified Registered Nurse Anesthetist who will deliver high-quality anesthetic care in the inpatient and expanded outpatient facilities of the health system, working alongside staff anesthesiologists. Beyond direct patient care, the CRNA may take part in research, teach student registered nurse anesthetists, and contribute to departmental and hospital-wide leadership efforts.

Day-to-day responsibilities include choosing suitable equipment and preparing the room ahead of each patient's needs, doing so efficiently, thoroughly and with attention to cost. The CRNA confirms that preoperative paperwork is complete, coordinates the care plan with the attending anesthesiologist and the surgical team, and manages all facets of anesthesia based on how each patient responds to anesthesia and surgery, seeking input from anesthesiologists or other team members when needed. Thorough, accurate and legible documentation is expected before, during and after each case, and other assigned duties may be added.

Candidates must hold a master's degree in nursing or an equivalent from an accredited nurse anesthesia program, along with an Illinois Advanced Practice Registered Nurse license, an Illinois Registered Professional Nurse license, NBCRNA certification, and current Basic Life Support and Advanced Cardiovascular Life Support certifications. Membership in the American Association of Nurse Anesthetists and in the state professional association for the primary practice, such as the Illinois Association of Nurse Anesthetists, is preferred.

The employer is an equal opportunity employer, and a background check that includes criminal history is required for newly hired staff, with results reviewed case by case in line with applicable law, including the Illinois Health Care Worker Background Check Act. Artificial intelligence tools may assist in parts of candidate review, but a person makes all employment decisions. Benefits are described as including tuition reimbursement, loan forgiveness, 401(k) matching and lifecycle support, with eligibility depending on employment classification, and a sign-on bonus, where offered, is subject to internal-employee and rehire restrictions.
