Full details

This full-time day position calls for a Certified Registered Nurse Anesthetist to deliver high-quality anesthesia care in inpatient and expanded outpatient settings, working alongside staff anesthesiologists. The nurse anesthetist may also take part in research, teach student registered nurse anesthetists, and contribute to departmental and hospital-wide leadership efforts.

Core duties include preparing the room by selecting suitable equipment in advance of each patient's needs, doing so efficiently, thoroughly and with attention to cost. The CRNA confirms that preoperative paperwork is complete and coordinates the care plan with the attending anesthesiologist and surgical team. Throughout a case, the nurse anesthetist manages all facets of anesthetic care according to how the patient responds to anesthesia and surgery, seeking input from attending anesthesiologists or other team members when needed. Accurate, complete and legible records are required before, during and after surgery, and other duties may be assigned.

Required credentials include a master's degree in nursing or an equivalent from an accredited nurse anesthesia program, an Illinois Advanced Practice Registered Nurse license, an Illinois Registered Professional Nurse license, National Board for Certification and Recertification of Nurse Anesthetists certification, and current Basic Life Support for Healthcare Providers and Advanced Cardiovascular Life Support certifications. Membership in the American Association of Nurse Anesthetists and a state association such as the Illinois Association of Nurse Anesthetists is preferred.

The employer offers a range of benefits, including tuition reimbursement, loan forgiveness, 401(k) matching and lifecycle benefits, with details available on its benefits page. Employment is subject to a background check conducted under Illinois law, and AI tools may assist parts of candidate review, though a person makes all hiring decisions.
