Full details

Advocate Sherman Hospital, a nonprofit acute care community hospital in Elgin, Illinois, is seeking a Certified Registered Nurse Anesthetist to join its Anesthesiology Team. The position is benefits eligible and scheduled for 40 hours per week, with a shift option of 8 or 10 hours. The listed pay range is $99.75 to $159.60, and the posting notes hourly figures of $121 to $159 per hour, a sign-on bonus of up to $100,000, and extra shift bonuses of $75 to $100 per hour. A forgivable loan option is also available.

The CRNA would provide general, regional, and monitored anesthesia care, including inducing and maintaining anesthesia, supporting life functions, recognizing and correcting abnormal responses, and providing post-anesthesia care until the patient regains control of vital functions. Pre-anesthesia duties include confirming the physician's pre-anesthetic evaluation and testing, reviewing the patient's condition, and checking equipment. Post-anesthesia duties include handing off care safely, advising recovery staff, managing postoperative epidural and other analgesia with the surgeon, and handling narcotic accounting. The role also includes responding to Code Blue and respiratory emergencies, helping with difficult IV starts when requested, and providing labor analgesia in the Birth Day Center at times.

The posting describes a schedule that may include 24/7 call and weekend coverage as the department requires, though it also highlights no call, weekends, or holidays as part of the arrangement. Required education is a master's degree in nursing, and no prior experience is required. Candidates need an RN license, CRNA certification from the AANA, an Illinois Advanced Practice Nurse Prescriber license, and a DEA registration. PALS, ACLS, or NRP certification must be obtained within six months unless the department leader waives it.

Benefits described include CME reimbursement of $2,250 annually plus 40 hours of CME time, licensure and certification costs covered, malpractice insurance, 30 days of PTO that grows with service, and no non-compete, with the option to work locums at non-Advocate Health locations. Broader benefits include medical, dental, vision, life and disability coverage, retirement plans with an employer match, and an educational assistance program. Eligibility for some programs depends on FTE or status.
