Full details
This full-time day-shift position is for a Certified Registered Nurse Anesthetist who will deliver high-quality anesthetic care in the inpatient and expanded outpatient facilities of a large Illinois health system, working alongside staff anesthesiologists. Beyond direct patient care, the CRNA may take part in research, teach student registered nurse anesthetists, and contribute to departmental and hospital-wide leadership efforts.
Day-to-day duties include choosing the right equipment and preparing the operating room in advance of each patient's needs, doing so efficiently, thoroughly and with attention to cost. The CRNA confirms that preoperative paperwork is complete, coordinates the anesthetic plan with the attending anesthesiologist and the surgical team, and manages all facets of anesthesia based on how each patient responds to anesthesia and surgery, seeking input from anesthesiologists or other team members when needed. Thorough, accurate and legible documentation is required before, during and after each case, and other assigned duties may be included.
Candidates need a master's degree in nursing or an equivalent from an accredited nurse anesthesia program, an Illinois Advanced Practice Registered Nurse license and an Illinois Registered Professional Nurse license, and NBCRNA certification. Basic Life Support for Healthcare Providers from the American Heart Association and Advanced Cardiovascular Life Support certifications are also required. Membership in the American Association of Nurse Anesthetists and the Illinois Association of Nurse Anesthetists is preferred.
The employer offers benefits including tuition reimbursement, loan forgiveness, 401(k) matching and lifecycle support, with details available through its benefits resources. Eligibility for benefits depends on employment classification, and any sign-on bonus is subject to the employer's eligibility rules. A background check, including criminal history review under the Illinois Health Care Worker Background Check Act, is part of the hiring process.
