Full details

The role is for a Certified Registered Nurse Anesthetist at UPMC Williamsport in Williamsport, Pennsylvania. The anesthesia provider would cover a broad mix of procedures, including cardiac, plastic, thoracic, vascular, trauma, and pediatric cases.

The employer highlights flexible scheduling that lets providers choose among shifts of several lengths to suit personal needs, along with exposure to many surgical specialties, a collaborative team of seasoned clinicians, and the chance to serve a community-rooted health system.

In this position, the CRNA gives anesthetic care to all patient types under the direction of a supervising or medically directing physician, following the Department of Anesthesiology's standards and hospital policies. The provider renders patients insensitive to pain during surgery, watches how they respond to sedatives, analgesics, and anesthetic agents, and alerts the anesthesiologist to any adverse change that could threaten safety.

Duties include being accountable for controlled substances under department, hospital, state, and federal rules; helping teach and evaluate newly hired CRNAs, GRNAs, and SRNAs in the clinical area; and delivering anesthesia-related care across pre-anesthetic evaluation and preparation, induction, maintenance and emergence, post-anesthesia recovery, and peri-anesthesia support. The CRNA also verifies informed consent paperwork, confirms the correct surgical site with the surgical team, and takes part in quality improvement through case documentation, incident reporting, education, and plan implementation.
