Full details
The position at Sparrow Ionia in Ionia, Michigan centers on delivering anesthesia and pain management care to emergency and surgical patients, both scheduled and urgent. The CRNA may also be assigned to cover anesthesia needs at other locations within the University of Michigan Health system, such as Sparrow sites in Lansing, Clinton, Eaton, and Carson City, though the role primarily supports the Eaton and Ionia facilities.
Responsibilities include providing anesthesia to patients who arrive at the hospital, taking a rotating share of on-call duty alongside other Medical Staff members under the hospital's bylaws, and attending departmental meetings and peer review or quality activities requested by the Medical Director or CEO. The provider meets periodically with leadership to review performance and efficiency, helps build and update anesthesia protocols with the Medical Director and staff, and handles hospital equipment and supplies carefully, reporting any defects promptly. Additional duties may be assigned, and leadership may modify the role.
Candidates need a Michigan license as a registered professional nurse and current certification as a CRNA from the American Association of Nurse Anesthetists. They must hold a degree from a nurse anesthesia program accredited by COA, at least one year of acute care RN experience, and a minimum of two years working as a CRNA. Strong communication, aseptic technique knowledge, familiarity with Joint Commission and HIPAA standards, the stamina for long procedures, and the ability to handle long, irregular hours including weekends and on-call shifts are all expected. The position lists a daytime shift, full-time status, and an experience level of 4 to 9 years.
