Full details

The full-time CRNA position is based at the Carson City location of UM Health-Sparrow in Michigan. The role provides anesthesia and pain management care for emergency and surgical patients, covering both scheduled and urgent cases. The practice may occasionally ask the CRNA to help meet anesthesia needs at other UM Health locations in the region, and leadership may change the duties of the role.

Responsibilities include pre-operative and post-operative evaluations, intraoperative monitoring, and documenting that work. The CRNA also guides anesthesia and support staff through in-services and orientation, collaborates with physicians, nurses and ancillary teams, and takes part in hospital committees, performance improvement, planning and recruitment. Cost-conscious practice, regulatory compliance, and assigned special projects are expected, along with responding to Code Blue, rapid response and airway requests and assisting with IV insertion when available. Ongoing required education is part of the role.

Candidates need a current Michigan license as a certified nurse anesthetist and as a registered nurse, plus current BLS and ACLS certification. PALS and HIC are preferred. At least four years of anesthesia experience is required, and the position calls for graduation from an advanced nursing program. Strong interpersonal and communication skills, the ability to work with a diverse workforce and patient population, and sound critical thinking and leadership skills are also expected.

The hospital is a growing, 61-bed community facility, and the role carries a $100,000 signing bonus. The schedule is 1.0 FTE with call listed as 1 in 3, and the employer prefers candidates with four or more years of experience and familiarity with the EPIC electronic record. The position is hospital-employed and includes compensation, paid time off, medical, dental and vision coverage, eligibility for State or Federal loan repayment, relocation assistance, a 401(k) with matching funds, generous continuing education benefits, and malpractice insurance.
