Full details

The CRNA will deliver anesthesia and pain management care to emergency and surgical patients, covering both elective and urgent cases. The role may also, from time to time, support anesthesia needs at other UM Health Sparrow locations in the surrounding region. Duties include pre-anesthetic assessment and history-taking, selecting and giving anesthetics and adjunct drugs, managing airways and ventilation, performing regional and neuraxial techniques as credentialed, and providing peri-anesthetic monitoring and treatment of abnormal responses. The CRNA also handles emergence, post-anesthesia respiratory and cardiovascular support, documentation, and handoff to the receiving provider, and may place IV and arterial catheters as credentialed.

Candidates need a current Michigan RN license, CRNA certification, and ACLS certification obtained within six months of hire. They must be graduates of an AANA-accredited nurse anesthesia program. Strong assessment, problem-solving, time management, and communication skills are expected.

The position is full-time and hospital-employed within the Anesthesia Department at Sparrow in Lansing, Michigan, a Level 1 trauma center. Self-scheduling is available, and the practice uses an anesthesia care team model with coverage for outpatient surgery, trauma, neuro, pediatrics, obstetrics, and thoracic cases. Regional anesthesia, including peripheral nerve blocks, is part of the case mix, and the EPIC EMR is used.

The package includes a $50,000 signing bonus, compensation and benefits, a 401(k) with matching funds, and malpractice insurance that includes tail coverage.
