Full details
This opening is for a Certified Registered Nurse Anesthetist near Stowe, Vermont, suited to someone who prefers independent practice, a varied case mix, and a team focused on clinical quality, safety, and cooperation. The setting is also pitched as a chance to settle long term in one of the state's most scenic areas, with a mountain lifestyle.
Duties span the full range of CRNA work: general and regional anesthesia, emergency and critical care support, invasive pain blocks, and acute pain control. The CRNA would evaluate patients before anesthesia by reviewing history, examining them, and reading relevant labs, then choose a suitable plan. Airway management, including emergency intubation, ventilator care, IV access, and advanced monitoring such as arterial lines, are part of the job, as are neuraxial and regional techniques like spinal and epidural placement and ultrasound-guided nerve blocks. Throughout procedures the CRNA watches the patient, reads physiologic data, and adjusts care in real time.
Afterward the role involves postoperative evaluation and charting, including anesthetic records and post-anesthesia reports. The CRNA works with surgeons, nurses, and other disciplines to keep operating room and procedural flow safe and efficient, and takes part in quality assurance, peer review, and improvement projects. Helping organize anesthesia supplies, equipment readiness, and room setup with technical staff is also expected, along with adherence to state and federal rules, facility policy, and confidentiality requirements.
Applicants need graduation from an accredited nursing school and an accredited nurse anesthesia program, current NBCRNA certification, and active, unrestricted Vermont CRNA/RN licensure in good standing or the ability to obtain it. A current DEA registration, or the ability to get one, is required. Comfort working independently and strong skills in regional anesthesia and ultrasound-guided blocks are expected, along with clear communication, steady decisions under pressure, and a patient-centered approach. One to five years of independent anesthesia practice is preferred, though candidates with other experience levels are welcome. BLS, ACLS, and PALS from the AHA are preferred but not required.
The position is full-time, though part-time arrangements and additional per diem work may be discussed. Several shift patterns are offered depending on staffing needs and the provider's availability. Pay is listed at $130 to $135 per hour, with the final figure dependent on experience, education, skills, internal equity, and market data. Possible benefits include health, dental, and vision coverage, retirement plan options, paid time off and paid holidays, continuing education and professional development support where applicable, and paid professional liability coverage where applicable.
