Full details
This PRN Certified Registered Nurse Anesthetist role at Baptist Memorial Hospital-Carroll County in Huntingdon, Tennessee, carries routine clinical anesthesia work along with responsibility for quality initiatives. The position leads interactions with hospital medical staff and administration to promote cost-effective, high-quality anesthetic care. It follows a CRNA-only model in which providers practice autonomously.
Clinical work centers on conscious sedation and MAC anesthesia for outpatient and inpatient cases across general, ophthalmologic, GI and orthopedic procedures, with pulmonary cases arising rarely. Duties include pre-anesthetic assessment, requesting consultations and studies, obtaining informed consent, managing airways, overseeing emergence and recovery, discharging patients from the post-anesthesia area, and responding to emergencies with airway management or advanced cardiac life support.
Scheduling includes 8-hour weekday shifts on an as-needed basis, plus 24-hour weekday or weekend call with a 60-minute response time. Malpractice professional liability coverage is provided through LifeLinc, the anesthesia management group that employs the role. Benefits apply only to employees working 30 or more hours weekly, so this position is not benefit eligible.
Qualifications require graduation from an approved nursing school and from a nurse anesthesia program accredited by the AANA Council on Accreditation, along with successful completion of AANA Council on Certification examinations. The role also calls for at least two years of independent practice experience and current ACLS, BLS and PALS certification. Candidates must read and write English, communicate clearly with patients, families and staff, and work well in a team setting with general computer and Microsoft Office skills.
The CRNA must keep current with AANA rules and with local, state and federal regulations, develop standards for continuity of care and case management, and adhere to strict HIPAA confidentiality, completing the annual compliance exam.
