Full details
The role calls for a CRNA to join the anesthesia care team and deliver intravenous, inhalation, and regional anesthesia that keeps patients free of pain during surgery, obstetrical deliveries, and other medical or dental procedures. The CRNA may care for patients of every age and ASA class, including geriatric and pediatric patients, and provides airway management across the hospital as needed.
The hospital is a level 3 trauma center with 15 operating rooms covering thoracic, vascular, neurosurgery, general, ENT, urology, orthopedic, bariatric, plastic, colorectal, ophthalmology, podiatry, and pediatric surgery. Anesthesia is also provided in three endoscopy suites and in areas including MRI, electrophysiology, TEE, DCCV, CT, obstetrics, and bronchoscopy.
Responsibilities include completing pre-anesthesia assessments and building individualized anesthesia plans, administering general, regional, or monitored anesthesia care alongside surgeons and other providers, and watching patients through procedures while managing any anesthesia-related complications. The CRNA also delivers post-anesthesia care and pain management and keeps documentation that meets hospital policy and regulatory standards.
Candidates need a current RN license and NBCRNA CRNA certification, a master's or doctoral degree from an accredited nurse anesthesia program, and strong clinical judgment, communication, and teamwork skills. They must also hold or maintain clinical privileges, a State of Michigan RN license, state specialty certification, and ALS, BLS, and PALS certifications.
Call is limited to one to two call shifts per six-week schedule, with midnight shifts averaging about two per year and roughly six to seven weekend shifts per year. Shift lengths of 8, 10, 12, 16, and 24 hours are available.
Benefits include a competitive salary, family-forming support such as paid parental leave, adoption assistance, donor assistance, and fertility coverage, and a 403(b) retirement plan with a 3.5% salary match plus an optional 457 plan. Medical, dental, and vision coverage is offered, along with HSA, FSA, and DCFSA tax-savings account options.
