This casual CRNA position at Allegheny Health Network's AGH site provides anesthetic care to patients in the surgical setting. The anesthetist assesses, plans, evaluates and carries out anesthetic management for every patient needing anesthesia, and keeps accurate medical record documentation, which accounts for about half the role. Continuous monitoring of anesthetized patients and prompt correction of abnormal responses make up a significant share of the work, and the CRNA consults the attending physician on the plan of care and on any issue beyond the nurse anesthetist's knowledge or scope of practice.

The role also includes taking part in developing and carrying out performance or quality improvement initiatives, following nursing and American Association of Nurse Anesthetists ethical and legal standards, and observing safety rules and regulatory requirements. The CRNA serves as a clinical resource for the wider healthcare team and may mentor new staff or students. Other duties may be assigned as needed.

Candidates need a current Pennsylvania RN license or current multistate licensure under the enhanced Nurse Licensure Compact, plus certification as a Registered Nurse Anesthetist from the National Board of Certification and Recertification for Nurse Anesthetists. Prior CRNA experience is preferred. Required additional credentials include CPR through the American Heart Association, PALS, ACLS, and several clearances: Act 34 criminal background, Act 33 child abuse, Act 73 FBI fingerprinting.
