Full details
This Assistant Chief role supports the department's senior nurse anesthesia leadership in advancing the department's targets and aims at Allegheny General Hospital. The position centers on delivering anesthesia care and on standing in for the chief when that leader is away from the unit.
Roughly a third of the work involves assessing, planning, carrying out, and reviewing anesthetic care for every patient who comes in for anesthesia. Another third covers acting in the chief's place whenever the chief is out. The remaining portion focuses on building productive working relationships with interdisciplinary perioperative colleagues, showing capable leadership, pursuing continued professional development, observing the legal and ethical principles of nursing and the American Association of Nurse Anesthetists, and contributing to goals set at the department, division, and hospital levels.
Candidates need a current Pennsylvania RN license or a current multistate license issued under the enhanced Nurse Licensure Compact. They must hold certification as a Registered Nurse Anesthetist from the National Board of Certification and Recertification for Nurse Anesthetists and bring at least three years of clinical experience. Additional requirements include current American Heart Association credentials in CPR, PALS, and ACLS, plus several state clearances: Act 34 criminal background, Act 33 child abuse, Act 73 FBI fingerprinting, and the criminal background certificate.
