Full details

This part-time position at Allegheny Health Network in western Pennsylvania provides anesthetic care to surgical patients, with bonus eligibility for those working 30 or more hours per week. The CRNA assesses, plans, evaluates and carries out anesthetic management for every patient needing anesthesia, and keeps accurate medical records; this accounts for about 45 percent of the work. Continuous monitoring of anesthetized patients and correction of abnormal responses make up roughly 35 percent, with the CRNA consulting the attending physician on the plan of care and on any issue beyond the CRNA's knowledge or scope.

Remaining duties include helping develop and carry out performance and quality improvement initiatives (about 10 percent), following nursing and AANA ethical and legal standards along with safety rules and regulatory requirements (about 5 percent), and serving as a clinical resource for the interdisciplinary team, which may include mentoring new staff or students (about 5 percent). Other assigned duties may also be required.

Applicants need a current Pennsylvania RN license or a current multistate license under the enhanced Nurse Licensure Compact. Certification as a Registered Nurse Anesthetist from the National Board of Certification and Recertification for Nurse Anesthetists is required, and prior CRNA experience is preferred. Candidates must also hold current BLS-level CPR from the American Heart Association, PALS, and ACLS, and must clear several background checks, including Pennsylvania criminal history, child abuse clearance, and FBI fingerprinting.
