Full details
This full-time position at Allegheny Health Network provides anesthetic care to patients in the surgical setting. The CRNA assesses, plans, evaluates, and carries out anesthetic management for every patient receiving anesthesia care, and keeps accurate medical records; this accounts for the largest share of the role. The CRNA also watches patients continuously during anesthesia, responds to abnormal reactions, and consults the attending physician on the plan of care and on any issue beyond the CRNA's knowledge or scope of practice.
Additional responsibilities include helping develop and put into practice performance and quality improvement efforts, following the legal and ethical standards of nursing and the American Association of Nurse Anesthetists, and observing safety rules and regulatory requirements. The CRNA serves as a clinical resource for the wider healthcare team and may mentor new staff or students. Other duties may be assigned as needed.
Candidates need a current Pennsylvania RN license or a current multistate license under the enhanced Nurse Licensure Compact, plus certification as a Registered Nurse Anesthetist from the National Board of Certification and Recertification for Nurse Anesthetists. Previous CRNA experience is preferred. Required credentials include CPR from the American Heart Association, PALS, and ACLS, along with several state and federal clearances: Act 34 criminal background, Act 33 child abuse, Act 73 and FBI fingerprinting. The position is listed as eligible for a sign-on bonus.
