Full details
This full-time day and evening CRNA opening in Fredericksburg, Virginia, is with Mary Washington Healthcare, a nonprofit, independent system of two hospitals with 571 beds. The role centers on direct anesthesia care for general, regional and sedation cases, starting with a detailed pre-operative evaluation, continuing through intra-operative management, and ending with handoff to the post-operative provider. The CRNA works within their own expertise, state statutes and regulations, and institutional policy, and reports to the Division of Nursing and Physician Services.
The base salary range is listed as $251,014 to $331,386, and the posting also lists a pay range of $120.68 to $159.32. The organization describes a comprehensive benefits package that includes generous paid time off, CME opportunities, health, dental, vision, life and disability insurance, a 403(b) with employer matching, an optional non-matching 457(b), and professional liability coverage with tail coverage.
Day-to-day duties include completing pre-anesthetic assessments, reviewing medical history and medications, and obtaining informed consent. The CRNA builds individualized anesthetic plans with anesthesiologists and surgical teams, delivers the full range of techniques including general, regional, local and sedation, and performs advanced regional blocks such as epidurals, nerve blocks and IV regional anesthesia. Throughout procedures the CRNA monitors vital signs, manages airway and pulmonary status, and provides postoperative care covering emergence, pain control and transfer to recovery.
The department is preparing for a new Anesthesiology Residency Program starting in July 2025, and CRNAs will work alongside anesthesiologists, residents and surgical staff. The position also involves quality assurance, safety efforts and continuous improvement work. The organization is a Level II trauma center and primary stroke center, and it houses a Level III NICU and a comprehensive cardiac program.
Qualifications include a master's or doctoral degree in nurse anesthesia from an accredited program and current NBCRNA certification. Candidates need current BLS and ACLS certification, and active RN and APRN licensure in Virginia or the ability to obtain it. Experience in anesthesia delivery and perioperative care is strongly preferred, along with clinical skill, attention to detail and teamwork.
Fredericksburg sits between Washington, D.C., and Richmond, within a short drive of the Shenandoah and Blue Ridge Mountains.
