Full details

A local anesthesia group in Jacksonville, Florida is adding full-time CRNAs and CAAs to its team. The practice delivers adult anesthesia care at several facilities: the main Baptist campus downtown, the South campus, the Beaches location, and Clay Medical Campus on Fleming Island.

Anesthetists here work across a broad range of procedures, excluding pediatric patients, and may pursue obstetric or cardiothoracic cases if they wish. Surgical coverage spans general, orthopedic and gynecologic operations, as well as neurosurgery such as spine work, stroke interventions, aneurysm coiling, craniotomies and open neurovascular procedures. Supervision typically runs at a 1:3 or 1:4 ratio. Regional block skills are not mandatory, though spinals and arterial lines are expected of the team. Weekend and weekday call is part of the role but occurs rarely and is covered from home by pager. Assignments are offered across several shift lengths and patterns.

The main Jacksonville campus is a regional leader with an award-winning stroke program, a large neurosurgical service, and a Heart Center performing more than 500 open heart operations each year, along with newer structural heart procedures. Its main operating rooms handle heavy surgical volume and use two new Da Vinci robots. A partnership with MD Anderson supports cancer surgery at the site, which handled roughly 18,000 procedures across 35 suites in 2018. The South campus is adding four suites to its existing eight and serves a fast-growing area, while the Beaches facility, newly renovated with six suites, handles more than 7,000 cases a year.

The benefits package includes a newly structured compensation plan, dental, vision, FSA and HSA options, a 401k with company matching and profit sharing, and employer-paid short-term disability and life insurance. Seven weeks of paid time off are provided to start, along with a $2,500 CME allowance and in-house CME and ACLS recertification. Student stipends of $40k, $50k or $90k and sign-on bonuses are also noted.

The surrounding Jacksonville area offers beaches, parks, fishing, historic neighborhoods and a mild climate, with mountains and snow a few hours north and warm-weather options to the south. The parent network is a set of local practices backed by national resources, with CRNA advisory councils that give providers a voice in decisions.
