Full details
The position is a CRNA role at Mass Eye and Ear, a not-for-profit hospital affiliated with Mass General Brigham and with Harvard Medical School, where anesthesia providers help make possible surgery that protects vision, secures the airway, and changes lives. The caseload is demanding, drawing on complex ENT, ophthalmology, head and neck, pediatric, and airway patients. The CRNA works under physician direction, handling the full range of anesthesia assessment, planning, delivery, and follow-up, alongside leading surgeons and anesthesiologists.
Offered as full-time or part-time, the role can be filled on a mix of day and evening shifts. A $60,000 sign-on bonus is available, and the annual salary range for full-time work is $280,000 to $305,000, with part-time pay prorated to scheduled hours. Final pay is set by skills, experience, education, and certifications, and the package also includes benefits, differentials, premiums, and bonuses where applicable.
Responsibilities include giving general and regional anesthesia for intricate ENT and eye procedures, watching over patients through the whole perioperative period, and handling difficult airways and high-risk cases. The CRNA also works with surgeons, anesthesiologists, nurses, and other perioperative staff, and may take part in quality, teaching, and innovation projects if they wish. Exposure spans routine and rare cases across several campuses, including NICU and PICU patients and vision-preserving eye surgery.
Qualifications include graduation from an accredited nursing program and nurse anesthesia school, a current Massachusetts RN license, CRNA certification or recertification, and current Massachusetts Board of Nursing Expanded Role Certification. Strong written and spoken communication and leadership ability are required, along with ACLS and PALS certification. A BA or BSN is preferred, and membership in a professional nursing organization is welcome.
