Full details

Cleveland Clinic Union Hospital in Dover, Ohio is looking for a Certified Registered Nurse Anesthetist to work on an as-needed basis within a collegial, community-focused anesthesia practice backed by the Cleveland Clinic health system. The role is PRN, and the schedule blends shifts of several different lengths across day, evening, night and weekend coverage.

The hospital handles a varied, high-acuity caseload that includes general surgery, orthopedics, obstetrics, endoscopy and other procedural work, with steady daily operating room volume. Anesthesia care follows a medical-direction model in which one anesthesiologist supervises four CRNAs, allowing practitioners to act with professional independence while still working as a team.

The CRNA performs and documents pre-anesthetic evaluations, builds and carries out anesthetic plans that include monitoring and post-anesthesia follow-up, and delivers induction, maintenance and emergence care. The practitioner also watches for changes in the patient's physiologic response to surgery or anesthesia, responds appropriately, and alerts the responsible physician when needed. Other assigned duties may be added.

Candidates must be graduates of an accredited CRNA program and hold a current Ohio registered nurse license and CRNA licensure from the Ohio Board of Nursing. Current NBCRNA certification with continued professional certification, along with State Board of Nursing endorsement, is required. BLS and ACLS from the American Heart Association are mandatory, while PALS and NRP may be required depending on the work area.

The position calls for sound judgment, critical thinking and the ability to work with minimal oversight in a high-pressure setting. Physical demands include extended periods of standing and walking, lifting and moving patients, full range of motion, good manual dexterity and hand-eye coordination, and adequate hearing and vision. Some exposure to communicable disease and bodily fluids is expected, and standard precautions with protective equipment apply.

Employment is contingent on a drug screen, and staff must follow the system's influenza prevention program, which requires an annual flu vaccine or an approved exemption. The employer provides equal opportunity regardless of protected characteristics.
