Full details

Working under the medical direction of an anesthesiologist, the CRNA provides general and regional anesthesia for surgical, obstetrical and other procedures requiring anesthesia care. Patients served span every age group, from newborns and children through adolescents, adults and older adults, and all care follows hospital and departmental standards. Typical responsibilities include airway management, fluid and hemodynamic balance, patient monitoring, emergency response including resuscitation, and care of patients on mechanical ventilators.

Before surgery, the nurse anesthetist interviews and examines each patient, reviews the chart, and selects an anesthetic plan together with the anesthesiologist. During the case the nurse monitors the patient, responds to changes, and checks the patient again after surgery. The role also involves daily and between-case checks of anesthesia equipment, drug preparation, accurate controlled-substance accounting, and maintaining equipment and supplies under department policy.

The position requires working within the organization's policies and regulatory standards, communicating with surgeons and anesthesiologists about special patient concerns, and precepting student nurse anesthetists. The nurse administers anesthesia only within the clinical privileges granted, and may take on other duties within the scope of their license and certification.

This is a full-time opening at the Panorama City location.
