Full details
Carilion Clinic in Roanoke, Virginia is recruiting a full-time certified registered nurse anesthetist for its collaborative team at a Level I trauma center. The organization describes itself as a not-for-profit, mission-driven health system with multiple hospitals, trauma and NICU services, specialty institutes, and physician practices, and it is affiliated with a school of medicine and research institute.
The nurse anesthetist will design anesthesia care plans for patients across every age group, working alongside an anesthesiologist or the referring physician. The role also involves adjusting the anesthetic as a patient responds, keeping thorough and accurate records, protecting patient safety during care and at handoff to other providers, and guiding other clinicians involved in anesthesia delivery.
Posted benefits include no call responsibilities, flexible self-scheduling across several shift lengths, the option of full-time or part-time work, a $50,000 sign-on bonus, extra incentives for night work, premium pay for additional shifts, and annual merit increases with bonus opportunities. Compensation is listed as a range of $191,297.60 to $306,072.00, which excludes benefits and the pension plan, and actual pay depends on credentials, education, and prior experience.
Retirement and insurance include an employer-funded pension with five-year vesting, a 403(b) savings plan, eligibility for Public Service Loan Forgiveness as a non-profit employer, comprehensive medical, dental, vision, and life coverage, accrued paid time off from the first day, wellness resources, and continuing education support.
Candidates need a degree from a school of professional nursing and a graduate degree from a COA-accredited nurse anesthesia program. They must hold a current Virginia license as both a registered nurse and a nurse practitioner-nurse anesthetist, maintain NBCRNA certification, and keep current AHA BLS, ACLS, and PALS credentials. Good communication and interpersonal skills are also expected, and no prior experience is required.
The position is located in Roanoke, a community set among the Blue Ridge Mountains with access to trails, the Blue Ridge Parkway, and nearby lakes, as well as a lower cost of living and nearby universities.
