This part-time opening at Carilion Clinic is based at its Belleview Avenue campus in Roanoke, Virginia, and the employer is a not-for-profit health system with several hospitals, trauma centers, orthopedic and neuroscience institutes, and physician practices. The schedule is open to any day or shift.

The certified registered nurse anesthetist will plan and deliver anesthesia and related care for patients of all ages, at the request of a patient's physician, to support diagnostic, therapeutic, surgical, or obstetrical procedures. Work includes building an anesthesia care plan with an anesthesiologist or the patient's physician, adjusting the plan as the patient responds, keeping thorough records of the anesthetic, and keeping patients safe during care and handoffs to other providers. The nurse anesthetist also coordinates and directs other health care staff involved in anesthesia services.

Candidates need a degree from an accredited school of professional nursing and a graduate credential from a Council on Accreditation of Nurse Anesthesia Programs school. Current Virginia licensure as a registered nurse and nurse practitioner-nurse anesthetist is required, along with active certification from the National Board of Certification and Recertification for Nurse Anesthetists. Current BLS, ACLS, and PALS certifications from the American Heart Association must be maintained, and strong communication and interpersonal skills are expected. No prior experience is listed as necessary.
