Full details

This part-time opening for a Certified Registered Nurse Anesthetist is based at the Galax facility at 199 Hospital Drive, serving the Pearisburg, Virginia area, and the posting lists it as open with flexible scheduling across any day or shift. The health system behind the role is a not-for-profit organization headquartered in Roanoke, operating award-winning hospitals, two trauma-center levels, a Level 3 NICU, an orthopedics and neurosciences institute, multi-specialty practices, and a school of medicine with a research institute.

The nurse anesthetist designs anesthesia plans for patients of every age, working alongside an anesthesiologist or the patient's surgeon, and gives anesthesia and related care when a physician requests it for diagnostic, therapeutic, surgical, or obstetrical procedures. Responsibilities include adjusting the plan as the patient responds, keeping thorough and accurate records, keeping patients safe during care and during handoffs to other qualified providers, and directing other health care staff involved in anesthesia delivery.

Candidates need a degree from an accredited school of professional nursing and a graduate credential from a Council on Accreditation of Nurse Anesthesia Programs school. They must hold a current Virginia license as both a Registered Nurse and a Nurse Practitioner-Nurse Anesthetist, and an active NBCRNA certification or recertification. Current BLS, ACLS, and PALS certifications from the American Heart Association are required, and strong communication and interpersonal skills are expected. No prior experience is listed as required.

Pay falls within a posted range that depends on qualifications, credentials, education, and prior experience, and the range excludes benefits and the pension plan. Benefits include comprehensive medical, dental, and vision coverage, an employer-funded pension vested after five years, a voluntary 403(b), paid time off accruing from the first day, onsite fitness studios and wellness center discounts, a wellness app, childcare discounts, and continued education and training.
