Full details

This full-time, day-shift opening is based at the Galax facility of Carilion Clinic, a not-for-profit health system headquartered in Roanoke, Virginia, that runs several hospitals, trauma and neonatal units, and a medical school. The certified registered nurse anesthetist delivers anesthesia and related care at a physician's or surgeon's request for diagnostic, therapeutic, surgical, or obstetric procedures, following accepted anesthesiology standards. Responsibilities include building an anesthesia plan for patients of every age alongside an anesthesiologist or the treating physician, adjusting that plan as each patient responds, and charting the response thoroughly. The CRNA also safeguards patients during care and during handoffs to other providers, and directs other clinical staff involved in anesthesia delivery.

Candidates need a degree from an accredited professional nursing program and graduation from a Council on Accreditation of Nurse Anesthesia Programs school. Virginia licensure as both a registered nurse and a nurse practitioner-nurse anesthetist is required, along with current National Board of Certification and Recertification for Nurse Anesthetists credentials. Current AHA-approved BLS, ACLS, and PALS certifications must be maintained, and strong communication and interpersonal skills are expected. No prior work experience is listed as a requirement.

Pay depends on factors such as qualifications, credentials, education, and prior experience, and the posted range excludes benefits and pension contributions. Benefits include comprehensive medical, dental, and vision coverage, an employer-funded pension vesting after five years, a voluntary 403(b), accrued paid time off starting on day one, on-site fitness studios and wellness center discounts, a wellness app, childcare discounts, and continuing education and training.
