Full details

UChicago Medicine is seeking a full-time Certified Registered Nurse Anesthetist for its Anesthesiology Department on a rotating schedule. The posting notes a sign-on bonus of up to $50,000.00 and that relocation assistance is available.

The CRNA would provide perioperative patient care, beginning with preoperative assessment and sedation, then administering and managing anesthesia, ending the anesthetic, and handling postoperative management. Core duties include acquiring and preparing anesthesia drugs and delivery systems, reviewing charts and interviewing patients before surgery, and building an anesthesia plan with the surgeon and attending anesthesiologist. The role also calls for expert airway management, including mask ventilation, laryngeal mask ventilation and endotracheal intubation, along with placing and interpreting monitoring such as ECGs, arterial and central lines, pulmonary artery catheters, transesophageal echocardiography and peripheral nerve stimulators. The CRNA would document perioperative events, transport patients to suitable postoperative locations, and report their condition to the appropriate clinician.

The posting describes the setting as an academic medical center with a Level One trauma service, working alongside a group of CRNAs across all surgical and procedural specialties.

Required qualifications include a current Illinois RN license and APN licensure, a BSN, BLS and ACLS certification, and graduation from an AANA-approved nurse anesthesia program with at least a master's degree from a COA-accredited program. Candidates must pass the National Certification Examination after graduation, be certified or eligible for certification by the AANA and NBCRNA, and maintain certification through continuing education. A minimum of one year of full-time critical care experience as a registered nurse is also required.

The position is non-union and is classified as full-time at 1.0 FTE on a rotating shift.
