The role is a days-based position at Geisinger Lewistown Hospital in Lewistown, Pennsylvania, scheduled for 36 hours per week and classified as a regular, exempt position. The CRNA delivers anesthesia in the operating room for surgical, diagnostic, and therapeutic cases while working beneath the oversight of an anesthesiologist. Responsibilities also include assessing patients before surgery, following up after it, and serving as a patient advocate and a point of contact who relays information between patients, their families, and physicians.

Lewistown is a 123-bed community hospital in Mifflin County with six operating rooms, three endoscopy procedure rooms, and one obstetrics suite. The site has a recently renovated endoscopy center, a hybrid operating room, and modern anesthesia equipment, and it performs roughly 700 births, 4,500 surgeries, and 4,200 endoscopy procedures each year. Full-time CRNAs and anesthesiologists are on staff. Shifts alternate between 24-hour and 12-hour blocks depending on need, and the position carries back-up call only, with overtime available. Robotic surgery is expanding at the site through the addition of a Mako robotic arm and a da Vinci system.

Geisinger also runs an outpatient surgery and endoscopy facility in State College that opened in 2014. It has four operating rooms and four endoscopy procedure rooms, handling more than 3,000 surgeries and 5,000 endoscopy cases annually, with total joint work being added. Case types emphasized across the system include orthopaedics, gynecology, general surgery, endoscopy, and obstetrics.

Required credentials include a master's degree in nursing, a current Certified Registered Nurse Anesthetist license, a Pennsylvania registered nurse license, and Basic Life Support certification. Student registered nurse anesthetists are welcome to apply, and the employer is a designated clinical site for them, offering teaching and mentorship. The department is moving to a 24/7 in-house call model and offers 8, 10, 12, and 24-hour shifts.
