Full details
A physician-owned, clinician-led anesthesia group is recruiting a full-time CRNA for its independent practice at Island Health Hospital in Anacortes, Washington, a coastal city on the Salish Sea. The schedule runs three weeks on and one week off, with an average 45-hour week that includes worked call hours. Hours beyond 90 per pay period are paid as extra time, and additional shifts or post-call work are compensated at a premium rate.
The annual salary is listed at $320,000, along with a $29,000 retention bonus. Thirteen weeks of paid time off are included, so the position is described as 39 weeks of work. Relocation help of up to $10,000 is available for candidates coming from out of state or out of the area, with receipts required. Continuing education of up to $3,000 per year is offered. Benefits include health, dental, vision, life and disability coverage, malpractice coverage for W-2 employees, a 401(k), and flexible spending accounts.
The caseload spans general, block, obstetric, orthopedic, urologic, gynecologic, podiatric, spine, GI, ENT and pediatric anesthesia, and excludes cardiac, head and vascular cases. The practice covers four operating rooms, one endoscopy suite and obstetric coverage for three labor rooms. Call averages four weeknight calls per three-week period, with no more than nine weekends per year, and the CRNA is not required to remain in the hospital. A day off follows each call shift.
Charting is done in Meditech Expanse, though anesthesia records are kept on paper, and medications are managed through Pyxis. Candidates need an active state license, NBCRNA certification, ACLS, PALS and BLS, and at least 12 months of practice after completing training.
The hospital is a Level 2 stroke and Level 3 trauma center that has served its community for more than 60 years, offering cardiac rehabilitation, primary and internal medicine, oncology, gynecology and obstetrics, imaging, sports and spine care, surgery, urology, pediatrics, physical therapy and pulmonary rehabilitation. It performs roughly 6,000 cases a year, including about 2,803 in the main OR, 2,756 in endoscopy and 438 obstetric cases.
Anacortes sits about 90 minutes north of Seattle near Bellingham and offers boating, hiking, cycling and access to Deception Pass State Park and the San Juan Islands, along with a historic downtown and an active arts scene. The practice has operated since 1996 with a focus on anesthesia and clinician development.
