Full details
This full-time Director, Clinical Alignment CRNA role at Olathe Hospital combines clinical leadership with administrative responsibility for CRNA practice and departmental operations. The director serves as a clinical resource for CRNAs on complicated cases, evidence-based anesthesia care, and departmental standards, and maintains a visible presence in the perioperative area to provide real-time support. The position works alongside the Chief CRNA, Operations Manager, and Lead CRNAs to manage daily clinical flow, staffing, and workflow.
Responsibilities include quality and regulatory work such as reviewing safety event reports, preparing for Joint Commission surveys, and monitoring for controlled substance diversion with the Chief CRNA and Pharmacy, including follow-up re-education when needed. The director also helps lead quality improvement efforts, participates in ERAS metric review, and represents CRNA leadership on committees such as the Clinical Practice Committee, Patient Safety Committee, and Quality Improvement Committees.
Staff development is a major part of the role. The director coordinates orientation for new CRNAs, assigns mentors through the CRNA mentorship program, oversees competency validation and FPPE processes, and runs monthly orientation for student registered nurse anesthetists while acting as liaison to the School of Health Professions. The position also leads competency initiatives for glucometers and iSTAT on the night team.
The director supports recruitment and retention by planning recruitment events, interviewing candidates, evaluating locum CRNAs, and working with the Chief CRNA on annual performance evaluations, coaching, corrective action, and compensation improvements. Monthly CRNA department meetings are also led by the director, who communicates policy changes and departmental priorities to staff.
Candidates need a master's degree in nursing and at least four years of experience as a CRNA. Required credentials include CRNA certification, a current Kansas CRNA license in good standing, ACLS and BLS from the American Heart Association, and ongoing AANA recertification credits. The role requires proficiency with computers, electronic medical records, and spreadsheet software, along with demonstrated reliability and integrity. The requisition is R-58304.
