Full details

The role is a solo CRNA position at a 25-bed critical access hospital with two operating rooms. The CRNA is also on call for the emergency room, covering intubations, procedural sedation, lumbar punctures, IV starts, and trauma. On call typically changes over at 7 pm on Sunday.

Scheduled procedures take place on Monday, Wednesday, and Friday mornings. Most procedure days are built around scopes, starting at 0700 and typically finishing by 3 pm. Cases include ENT, endoscopy, general surgery, and obstetrics, and the CRNA is proficient in placing epidurals.

Duties include giving anesthesia or sedation for a range of surgical and non-surgical procedures and developing pre-anesthetic plans. The CRNA writes orders before, during, and after procedures, orders diagnostic tests as needed, and monitors patients, including hemodynamic monitoring, adjusting care to the anesthesia plan. The role involves collaborating with the providers caring for each patient and communicating with patients, families, and the wider care team. The CRNA must also be able to care for patients across all developmental stages.

Qualifications include a bachelor's degree from an accredited advanced practice nursing program. A master's degree, DNP, or PhD is preferred. The position requires an unencumbered CRNA license from the state board of nursing where the CRNA practices, or multi-state privileges where the position requires them, along with CRNA certification from the NBCRNA that is kept current. Department-specific competencies must be obtained and maintained, and ACLS certification is preferred.
