Full details

A community-focused critical access hospital in Vermont is seeking an experienced CRNA for a position where nurse anesthetists are treated as respected members of the care team and hold a notable degree of professional independence. The role suits practitioners who want independent practice, solid clinical backing, and a quality of life centered on balance and the outdoors in one of New England's most scenic areas.

The practice is a CRNA-only model with no anesthesiologists on staff, so the nurse anesthetist works at the top of their license with substantial autonomy and responsibility for clinical decisions. The caseload is varied: roughly 85 percent orthopedic procedures and about 15 percent general surgery, with frequent use of regional anesthesia and peripheral nerve blocks. The surgical team is stable and focused on patient care, and scheduling is flexible to support long-term sustainability.

Call is shared, currently at a ratio of 1 in 6, with the expectation that it will move to 1 in 8 as the team grows. The close-knit environment gives the provider chances to build lasting working relationships with surgeons, nurses, and hospital leaders.

Compensation is described as competitive, and the employer covers malpractice insurance. Medical, dental, and vision coverage is offered, along with life and disability insurance, a retirement plan with an employer contribution, generous paid time off, and support for continuing education and professional development.

Candidates should hold CRNA certification and have active or eligible Vermont licensure. Three years of anesthesia experience is preferred, along with confidence practicing without direct physician supervision, strong airway and intubation skills, experience with regional anesthesia and nerve blocks, and a commitment to patient-centered care.

Northern Vermont offers four-season outdoor recreation, from skiing and hiking to kayaking and mountain biking, plus mountain and lake scenery, state parks, lively small-town downtowns with restaurants and breweries, and a range of festivals and markets. Families are well served by the communities' schools, and the region is reachable through regional airports and larger New England destinations.
