Full details
The schedule is 24-hour shifts. The role centers on delivering anesthesia for obstetric patients in a collaborative, high-acuity setting, while also covering the broader range of surgical and procedural cases that the department handles.
Core responsibilities include reviewing the physician's pre-anesthetic evaluation, lab results, and the patient's psychosocial and physical history, then confirming the planned procedure with the patient. The CRNA performs a focused pre-induction assessment covering airway features, dentures, prosthetics, allergies, and fasting status, and confirms that all safety standards, equipment checks, and monitor placement are complete before induction. General and regional anesthetics are selected and administered under the direction of the assigned staff anesthesiologist or established department methods, with airway management and emergency response carried out per departmental policy.
Throughout each case, the CRNA runs the full set of noninvasive monitoring, records vital signs at set intervals, manages fluid, blood, and electrolyte balance, and logs significant events, including tourniquet details and surgeon-administered drugs. Adverse drug reactions are treated promptly and escalated to the senior staff anesthesiologist. Anesthesia is terminated safely, and the patient is transported to recovery with a detailed handoff to recovery staff.
Ongoing expectations include completing 40 continuing education units every two years, maintaining certification and registration, staying current with resuscitation practice and department procedures, and sharing on-call duties with the ability to respond within the required time. The position calls for effective teamwork within the anesthesia care group and flexibility with variable hours.
Candidates should hold a bachelor's degree and CRNA certification or registration, and hold current ACLS and BLS credentials, which must be obtained within 30 days of hire or transfer. The posting lists less than one year of experience as the requirement. The organization states that all people should feel welcomed, valued, and supported.
