Full details
This Baylor Scott & White Health opening in Waco is for a Certified Registered Nurse Anesthetist, a licensed nurse with advanced anesthesia training who provides anesthesia to patients of every age during surgeries and other procedures. The position is limited to select locations because of the particular workplace conditions at each site.
Responsibilities begin before the case, with reviewing the patient's history, psychosocial and biophysical status, laboratory results, and the physician's pre-anesthetic evaluation, then discussing the planned surgery with the patient and confirming safety checks, equipment, airway supplies, and monitor placement. During the case the CRNA induces and maintains general or regional anesthesia, performs intubation and extubation, manages fluids, blood, and electrolytes, responds to emergencies under departmental policy, and records all significant events in the anesthetic record. Monitoring is detailed, with noninvasive devices used on general anesthesia patients and vital signs charted at set intervals.
After the procedure the CRNA safely brings the patient to recovery, hands off a thorough report to recovery staff, and notifies the anesthesiologists of any complications.
Candidates should hold a bachelor's degree and certification and registration as a CRNA, along with ACLS and BLS, which must be obtained within 30 days of hire or transfer. The position calls for ongoing education of 40 CEUs every two years, current knowledge of resuscitation practice, teamwork within the anesthesia group, flexibility with variable hours, and willingness to share on-call duties and respond promptly when called in.
Benefits described for the role include immediate eligibility for health and welfare coverage, a 401(k) plan with a dollar-for-dollar match up to 5%, tuition reimbursement, and paid time off that accrues from the first day. Benefits may differ by position type and level, and full details are available through the employer's benefits hub.
