Full details

Wellstar MCG Health is seeking PRN Certified Registered Nurse Anesthetists or Certified Anesthesiologist Assistants to deliver care to adult patients at its academic, 478-bed Level 1 Trauma Center in Augusta, Georgia. Anesthesia providers work under the supervision of an anesthesiologist across the Main OR, Electrophysiology, Endoscopy, Interventional Radiology, the Surgery Center, and Angiography. The case mix spans ENT, GI, orthopedics, plastics, neuro, adult general surgery, trauma, dental, and several other specialties.

Responsibilities include reviewing pre-anesthetic assessments with the responsible attending anesthesiologist, which may lead to further studies or consultation; the CAA may perform that evaluation under the anesthesiologist's supervision. The provider develops and carries out an anesthetic plan under the anesthesiologist's direction, selecting monitors, drugs, fluids, and techniques. Other duties include keeping an accurate, timely anesthetic record, ensuring patient stability during transfer to the Post Anesthesia Care Unit, managing emergencies including CPR, and taking infection-prevention precautions. During rotations, the provider may handle scheduling, supervise students and ancillary staff, and take part in departmental quality, education, research, and committee work assigned by the Chair of Anesthesiology.

Augusta sits on the Savannah River and blends big-city amenities with a small-town feel. The metro area has roughly half a million residents and includes the Charlie Norwood VA Medical Center and Dwight D. Eisenhower Army Medical Center, and it is home to the Masters Golf Tournament.
