Full details
WellStar Health System is seeking a full-time CRNA or Anesthesiologist Assistant to deliver anesthetic care in a range of clinical environments, working under the direction of an anesthesiologist or in collaboration with one, in line with an established protocol agreement. The role covers general hospital operating rooms and procedural suites, and anesthesia may also be given in outpatient surgery facilities, endoscopy suites, and centers focused on pain management.
Responsibilities include administering anesthesia to keep patients free of pain during surgical, obstetric, and other medical procedures, and stepping in with advanced life support when clinical circumstances call for it. The practitioner sets up multi-parameter monitoring before, during, and after anesthesia, tracking ECG, arterial and central venous pressures, blood gases, hematocrit, temperature, breathing, blood pressure, and heart rate, and manages pre- and post-anesthetic care, including ventilator support as assigned. Additional duties involve preparing drugs, supplies, and equipment, checking the gas machine, confirming emergency blood availability, reviewing charts, positioning patients, documenting each anesthetic, and assisting with recovery.
The position also includes teaching and supervision, such as instructing student nurse anesthetists, residents, interns, and allied health students, and taking part in research led by an anesthesiologist. The practitioner must cooperate with the group's quality assurance, risk management, peer review, and utilization programs, and must follow all WellStar policies and its code of conduct.
Required credentials include completion of an accredited nurse anesthesia program or an accredited Anesthesiologist Assistant program, along with national certification and state licensure. Upon hire, candidates must hold ACLS and BLS credentials, a current registered nurse license (multi-state compact or single state), and the applicable advanced practice certification. The role calls for demonstrated leadership, strong interpersonal and communication skills, a collaborative approach within multi-specialty groups, and a commitment to high-quality, customer-focused care that reflects compassion, accountability, respect, and excellence.
WellStar describes itself as the most integrated health system in Georgia and invites candidates to join a team that values every voice and focuses on improving the health and well-being of the people it serves.
