Full details
Salem Health is looking for a full-time certified registered nurse anesthetist to work within its collaborative anesthesia group. The position centers on delivering anesthesia for a broad mix of surgical and procedural patients, working side by side with anesthesiologists and other CRNAs in a team-based setting. The work takes place in a fast-paced, high-acuity environment that serves a large surgical program and a Level II Trauma Center.
The Anesthesiology Department at Salem Hospital, a 644-bed not-for-profit medical center in Salem, Oregon, covers one of the region's busiest surgical services. As a Level II Trauma Center and Life Flight hub, it provides anesthesia for trauma, neurosurgery, spine, orthopedics, cardiothoracic, pediatric, vascular, and general surgery cases. The city sits within easy reach of Oregon's wine country, the Pacific coast, the Cascade foothills, and the Portland area.
Core duties include administering and monitoring anesthesia across these specialties with an emphasis on patient safety and comfort, performing pre-anesthesia evaluations, and building individualized anesthetic plans. The role also involves coordinating care with surgeons, nurses, and perioperative staff, taking part in call coverage for emergency and urgent surgery, and keeping accurate anesthesia documentation in the electronic medical record.
Candidates must be graduates of an accredited nurse anesthesia program and hold a current, unrestricted Oregon license as a CRNA, or be able to obtain one before starting. National certification through the NBCRNA is required, along with current ACLS and PALS certifications from the American Heart Association. Applicants must also show current clinical competency, meaning at least 500 anesthetics performed within the past 24 months. Two or more years of acute care surgical CRNA experience and independent practice experience are preferred.
The schedule is 40 hours a week, exempt status, spread over four 10-hour shifts from 7:00 am to 5:00 pm, with no call. The compensation package lists a base salary of $313,790, a start bonus of up to $15,000, educational loan repayment assistance of up to $30,000, relocation assistance, a $4,000 annual continuing medical education allowance, and eight weeks of paid time off. The employer is a Public Service Loan Forgiveness eligible organization.
Salem Health describes itself as an Oregon Top Workplace and an independent, award-winning health system that operates Salem Hospital, several community clinics, and West Valley Hospital. The organization emphasizes Lean-based staff innovation, professional development, tuition assistance, and defined career paths.
