Full details

UPMC Harrisburg in Harrisburg, PA is seeking a CRNA for casual work. The posting lists a casual base rate of $190.74 and offers self-scheduling with flexible shifts of 8, 10, 12, or 24 hours.

The role involves working alongside a varied surgical team across neurosurgery, vascular, thoracic, orthopedic, obstetric, cardiac, general surgery, GI procedures, and colon and rectal surgery. The facility uses EPIC EMR and Fabias GS technology.

The CRNA delivers anesthetic care to patients of all types, working with the supervising or medically directing physician under the Department of Anesthesiology's standards and hospital policies. The work includes administering anesthesia so patients do not feel pain during surgery, watching how patients react to sedatives, analgesics, and anesthetic agents, and alerting the anesthesiologist to any adverse condition that could threaten patient safety or care.

Responsibilities include being accountable for controlled substances under department, hospital, state, and federal rules, and helping teach and evaluate newly hired CRNAs, GRNAs, and SRNAs in the clinical area. The CRNA covers anesthesia care across pre-anesthetic evaluation and preparation, induction, maintenance and emergence, post-anesthesia care, and peri-anesthesia clinical support. Work must follow established policies, procedures, and regulatory standards.

The CRNA reviews informed consent documentation and confirms the correct surgical site with operating room staff and the surgeon, in line with departmental and regulatory compliance requirements. The role also contributes to quality improvement through case documentation, incident reporting, evaluation, education, and carrying out the QI plan.
