Full details
This full-time, non-exempt hourly CRNA Resource Pool role sits within the Anesthesiology Department of University of Pittsburgh Physicians and covers staffing needs at UPP facilities throughout Allegheny County. Assignments are set monthly by a senior CRNA director, with day-to-day changes made as patient needs, acuity and staffing shift. Candidates need at least two years of prior experience.
The position offers a career ladder that rewards advancement and lets the CRNA choose areas of interest for added pay, along with a tiered program that speeds salary growth at credentialed sites and performance-based yearly raises. The package also includes a competitive base salary with recently raised ranges, sign-on bonuses, relocation help, and incentives for moving between sites.
Benefits include generous paid time off and paid parental leave, and the employer highlights continuing education resources. CRNAs work alongside surgeons, anesthesiologists and other clinicians on a multidisciplinary team, and the employer describes Pittsburgh as a city with strong cultural, outdoor and educational offerings.
The CRNA provides anesthetic care to all patients under the supervising physician, following department standards and hospital policy. Duties include administering anesthesia and related care across the full perioperative span, monitoring reactions to sedatives and anesthetic agents, and alerting the anesthesiologist to conditions that could threaten safety. The CRNA is accountable for controlled substances under policy and state and federal rules.
Other responsibilities include confirming informed consent documentation and verifying the surgical site with the surgical team, teaching and evaluating newly hired CRNAs and student nurse anesthetists, and taking part in quality improvement through documentation, incident reporting and education.
